TRAVEL DIARIES – Russia FIFA 2018 by Rumika Khurana
July 14, 2018
Rumika Khurana narrates below her travel story this summer to the gorgeous and the most happening country of 2018 – RUSSIA! After more than a month of Football World Cup action with many incredible moments to remember, Rumika takes us back to the centre of excitement with these great pictures to share and narrates her experience of the two famous cities of Russia – Moscow and St Petersburg.
“RUSSIA…FIFA 2018! Need I say more! The World Cup added cherry to the cake and we devoured the best of it. Soccer was in the air right from the metro stations to the malls as visible in the pictures below. Witnessing a chunk of Latin Americans and Europeans in this extremely well developed country, where English language was a barrier but the management aspects were just amazing! ”
Lonely planet quotes this city as ‘a stroll along the historical canal’.
Ruled by King Peter, St. Petersburg is often referred to as the Imperial capital of Russia owing to some exquisite palaces and museums it has to offer making it a great tourist destination. While the weather was quite cold and it rained at regular intervals, nothing seems to be able to dampen the vibrant spirit of this city.
Moscow, on the Moskva River in western Russia, on the other hand is the nation’s cosmopolitan capital. In its historic core is the Kremlin, a complex that’s home to the president and to the tsarist treasures in the Armoury. Outside its walls is Red Square, Russia’s symbolic center. Lined with splendid cathedrals and museums, a must visit is the St. Basil’s Cathedral, known for its colorful, onion-shaped domes.
Russia in a nutshell is a perfect treat for art lovers with its mesmerising beauty and sheer grandeur and a trip completely worthwhile!
