Kesar da dhaba, Amritsar

Apart from writing reviews on what’s new, today we would like to revive your memories of something old but definitely worth revisiting if you haven’t done so since quite some time.

Built in 1916, KESAR DA DHABA is an eating joint located in the interiors of Amritsar that has been in operation for over 100 years now! With its robust history of serving eminent personalities like Indra Gandhi et al., to being certified as the best eatery in Amritsar by RedFoodie users choice award, this surely comes in the list of things to do when visitng Amritsar, the city of Golden Temple. Here are a few pointers we have for you!

Location: It’s a little tough to find, so use your google map to make your way through the tiny and almost maze like lanes!

Availability: Since it has casual seating so obviously no reservations are required. But be prepared that it will be crowded and apparently all you should look for is a seat not a table. Surprisingly the day I went, we did not face any such problem and the staff was very cordial and seated us immediately.

What to order? : Their dal fry ( Dal mkhani ) is a legend and so are their paratha’s. Obviously be prepared to see a spoon full of ghee on them! But then thats the beauty of it. Apart from that, they serve scrumptious food so order your favorite dishes and you won’t be disappointed!

Services : Within 10 -15 min of us placing the order, piping hot food was served by a smiling staff member!

Travel tip : Make a spontaneous day trip plan to Amritsar with family or friends over a sunny weekend. Club your visit to KESAR DA DHABA with ‘darshan’ at the GOLDEN TEMPLE, Amrtisar and enjoy a fun weekend!

In all, I loved the experience and would surely recommend you all to visit this little piece of history!

PS : In case you are enthusiastic about cooking as we are, then you can always visit their site and read all their recipes.
